Waltz – Along with the Tango and Foxtrot, the Waltz is one of the classic ballroom dances. This is a fantastic sweeping dance, making it a must learn!

American Tango – Born in Argentina, this is the most dramatic of the ballroom dances. Tango has many different styles and proves popular both as an intimate social dance or a powerful dance on the competition floor. See the 5 tango basics you need to learn

FoxtrotFoxtrot is a simple yet elegant dance. Its is one of the first dances many ballroom dancers learn. With common music from the likes of Frank Sinatra to Michael Buble, it’s a hard dance to resist. See 7 Beginner Foxtrot Steps

Quickstep – This is a fun upbeat ballroom dance. With influences from the Foxtrot to the Charleston, this dance will send you sweeping and skipping across the dance floor!

Viennese Waltz – Originally coming from Bavaria, it’s characterized by fast tempo 3/4 time music. The exciting music and fast pace that make the Viennese Waltz an exciting choice

New York Style – Otherwise known as Salsa ‘on 2’, the specific pattern of footwork and its connection to the instruments of the music makes this a popular choice of hardcore Salsa lovers.

L.A. Style – Otherwise known as Salsa ‘on the 1’, which differentiates itself from New York Style. This is the most popular style of salsa danced in a slot.

Casino Rueda – A group style of Salsa danced in a wheel. A caller calls out moves sending the dancers into playful and easy moves (or sometimes more complicated intricate ones). It’s very fun!

Cumbia – Originating from a slightly different style of Salsa music, it’s a popular ethnic dance with much of its instruction being passed on through family and friends.

Bachata – This dance is one you will find anywhere there is salsa dancing. Its basic step is easy to pick up and the music is sure to make you want to move your feet.

Technically the latin dance styles fall under the ballroom dance lessons. These styles are very popular in our adult group classes. You’ll love these.

Rumba – Known as ‘the dance of love’, This is one of the classic Latin dances with its beautiful lines and hip action.

Cha Cha – Born out of its distant cousin, the Mambo, it’s one of the most popular Latin dances in the world! It fits a wide range of pop music. Cha Cha is flirty and fun!

Samba – The Brazilian national dance with a fantastic upbeat tempo of music. This dance has become a favorite worldwide!

Jive – Born out of the Lindy Hop, this is one of the most “American” dances with its roots right here in the ole’ USA! East Coast Swing, Jitterbug, Swing are all versions of this fast moving dance.

Bolero – This slow and beautiful dance is one of the five American Rhythm dances. With its rise and fall technique, and fluid movements, this makes for a great dance to watch.

Mambo – A close cousin to Salsa, this dance actually breaks away on count 2, instead of count 1. You will see many similarities between the two dance styles. Both make you want to get up and move your hips.

You could think of country dancing as ballroom dancing with hats and boots. Although we don’t wear hats and boots, these country dance styles are really cool. Learn more about country dance lessons at our studio.

Two Step – Gaining popularity from its Country music origins, this is the most classic of all Country dances. With many fast turns, this traveling dance can be seen in Country bars and competitive dance floors across the USA. If you’re looking to practice, you’ll need some good two step music.

Nightclub (NC2) – Despite its name, this dance has nothing to do with drunken dancing in a club. It’s a beautiful romantic dance that’s very easy to learn. A popular choice for all the slow music that you can dance nightclub to, but you would otherwise just sway back-and-forth to!

Polka – This dance is full of energy and a whole bunch of triple steps! Polka originated in the Czech region in Europe and quickly became a hit. It has traveled across continents and kept its appeal in many genres. If you’re looking for a workout…give polka a shot!

Swing dancing has a lot of forms and we teach all sorts of swing dance lessons, from the jitterbug of your grandparents to modern west coast swing there’s a lot to learn. Learn about our modern west coast swing lessons here.
