Dance Louisville Junior Academy Dress Code

The student dress code maintains the tradition and aesthetic of classical ballet and allows instructors to see the full lines of the students’ bodies. As such, all students must wear the required uniform colors and styles. At the bottom of this page we share some resources of where to get dance shoes & clothing.

Creative Movement

Girls – pink leotard, pink crepe skirt, plain white socks and pink leather full-sole ballet shoes. No tights, please.
Boys – white tank top or t-shirt and black shorts, white ankle socks and white or black full-sole ballet shoes.

Ballet – Tap – Jazz (Ages 3-5)

Girls – pink leotard, pink tights, ballet shoes, black tap shoes, jazz shoes.
Boys – white or black t-shirt and black shorts or pants, white ankle socks and white or black full-sole ballet shoes, tap shoes, and jazz shoes.

Ballet – Tap – Jazz (Ages 4-6)

Girls – light blue leotard, pink tights, ballet shoes, black tap shoes, jazz shoes.
Boys – white or black t-shirt and black shorts or pants, white ankle socks and white or black full-sole ballet shoes, tap shoes, and jazz shoes.

Pre-Primary Ballet

Girls – wear a pink cap-sleeved or v-strap leotard, pink skirt, pink tights, and pink full-sole ballet shoes.
Boys – wear a white tank top and black shorts or jazz pants, white ankle socks and white or black full-sole ballet shoes.

 Primary Ballet – Jazz

Girls – wear navy blue leotard, pink tights, pink full-sole ballet shoes and black or tan jazz shoes. Jazz pants can be worn for that portion of class.
Boys – wear a white tank top and jazz pants, white ankle socks and white or black full-sole ballet shoes, and jazz shoes.

Ballet – Jazz – Level 1

Girls – wear any color leotard, pink tights, pink full-sole ballet shoes and black or tan jazz shoes. Jazz pants can be worn for that portion of class.
Boys – wear a white tank top and jazz pants, white ankle socks and white or black full-sole ballet shoes, and jazz shoes.

Hip Hop

Boys & Girls – Black dance pants (i.e.: jazz pants/shorts, warm-up pants) & black leotards, or BLACK tank tops, fitted t-shirts, etc. & Tan Jazz Shoes. No baggy or over-sized pants or t-shirts, please.
